Dr. Richman is currently Associate Professor of Special Education at the University of Illinois.  He has held previous faculty appointments in the Pediatrics Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  His doctoral training was completed in the School Psychology program (Department of Educational Psychology) at the University of Iowa with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis, and he completed a post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Dr. Richman’s teaching and research focuses on assessment and treatment of behavior disorders such as aggression, property destruction, and self-injurious behavior. His current research projects are on developing behaviorally-based parent training programs to enhance child functional communication and reduce self-injury, chronic stereotypic behavior, and other common early childhood behavior problems.
